Hetalia: "Du är min renaste tröst"
 and  Taken at the Japan Arts Festival this weekend, where we (alexxiel, ~rosiael ~Lina-Lau and I), cosplayed the Nordic countries in Hetalia. (Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland respectively). It was a lot of fun despite missing our beloved older brother Denmark and we ended up in a rather spontaneous photoshoot with ~CosplayFever. At the same time, I brought my camera out to take photos and snapped this one of ~rosiael and ~Lina-Lau being rather angsty and romantic as Sweden and Norway. XD The day itself was very overcast, so the diffused lighting made for gorgeous photos. I wanted a fairytale-ish atmosphere (I seem to associate fantasy and fairytales with the Nordic countries now xD), using a mix of warm and blue colours. The poem is Swedish: "Du är min renaste tröst" by Karin Boye. I thought the pretty script worked well with the background, and when I saw the poem (linked to me by a friend), I felt that it was kind of apt for Sweden x Norway. A translation and the full poem can be found below. :> They aren´t a very popular couple (Sweden and Finland are the main, I think...), but from the little I know of Swedish and Norwegian history (please forgive my inaccuracies), it seemed to have that bittersweet feel. The foundations of their relationship in my mind have Sweden doing his best to deal with the loss of Finland* by taking as much care of Norway as he can (though he is easily misunderstood) and trying not to lose him as he did his previous "wife". Norway, however, is caught up in his romantic nationalist movement and cannot see Sweden's attempts at kindness. He is determined to break away as much as possible, because really, after all that time spent under Denmark´s rule, who wouldn't want to finally be free of his controlling brothers? That´s just my headcanon though, through the little I know about the history. I might be wrong. Feel free to tell me what you think? XD * Finland was lost to imperial Russia in 1809, only a few years before the Treaty of Kiel (1814) which put Norway in Sweden's Control klasdfja; sorry I ranted so much Dxxx i'm always interested in finding out more about the countries I like in Hetalia... so.. OTL ... Du är min renaste tröst, du är mitt fastaste skydd, du är det bästa jag har, ty intet gör ont som du. Nej, intet gör ont som du. Du svider som is och eld, du skär som ett stål min själ -- du är det bästa jag har. ...
